Patrick Sepec was born 1969 in Frankfurt am Main; from 1990 to 1997 he studied at the Basel Musikhochschule with Thomas Demenga and Reinhard Latzko. After his graduation he concentrated on the baroque cello with Christophe Coin at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
He is regularly working together with internationally renowned ensembles such as Freiburger Barockorchester, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Anima eterna, La Stagione under conductors such as René Jacobs, Philippe Herreweghe, Jos van Immerseel, and Marcus Creed. He is member of the ensemble Les Cornets Noirs, which is especially devoted to Italian and German music of the 17th century. Since the season 2005/06 he has been playing regularly as continuo cellist at the Bayerische Staatsoper under Ivor Bolton.
On the other hand Patrick Sepec loves contemporary music as well - on the modern instrument he plays as section leader in the Hamburg ensemble Resonanz, which excells especially in the fields of modern and contemporary music.
