Klara EK
soprano

"Vitellia's set pieces were the vocal glory of the evening in the fearless and brilliant soprano of Klara Ek" – Hilary Finch, Opera, August 2005

Since her outstanding debut at Royal Danish Opera in the role of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro in 2003, Swedish soprano Klara Ek has made several important debuts including Erste Dame (The Magic Flute) at La Monnaie under René Jacobs, La Musica and Proserpina (L'Orfeo) at Stuttgart Opera, and in concert she was invited by Vladimir Ashkenazy to sing Mahler's Fourth Symphony with the Philharmonia Orchestra at several venues including the Royal Festival Hall London.

Klara makes a number of important debuts this season. She has already worked for the first time with conductor Helmuth Rilling with a tour of Mozart's Exultate Jubilate and Coronation Mass, and Bach's Magnificat with the International Bach Academy Stuttgart; sang Elijah in her debut with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra under Andreas Spering; made her American debut with the Minnesota Orchestra and Christopher Warren-Green; and performed Sandstroem's Christmas Oratorio for her first appearance with the Malmo Symphony Orchestra.

Over the new year she returned to the Bournemouth Symphony to sing songs by Lehar and Zeller under Gunther Bauer-Schenk, made her Wigmore Hall debut singing Haydn arias with the Classical Opera Company, and was re-invited by Ashkenazy to sing Mahler's Fourth Symphony, this time with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo. In 2007 she performs Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos in her debut with Geneva Opera.
